The Week That Was (8-14 December, 2014)

On the platter tonight (Friday night) ... ‪#‎goodfriends‬ ‪#‎goodmusic‬ ‪#‎goodtimes

I don't just listen to vinyl - I probably buy more high resolution lossless audio music online than I do vinyl, which I stream from my MacBook through an external DAC to my amp and speakers, and today I bought this stunning CD by one of my favourite bands, The Civil Wars. ‪#‎greatmusic‬ ‪#‎civilwars‬‪#‎joywilliams‬

(Joy Williams, my current crush!)

COMENSA (Coaches and Mentors of South Africa) meeting at the V&A Waterfront... very productive, despite the beautiful surroundings!

Summer in the Suburbs - walking the dogs early in the morning, bumping into walkers, runners, cyclists and all the senses pleasantly assaulted by sounds, scents and incredible colours. And no wind (yet). ‪#‎capetown‬ ‪#‎perfectsummer‬

A Saturday well spent: completed all work on this turntable restoration, and put it up for sale. (Also cleaned up and made minor repairs to this beautiful vintage Pioneer receiver). Now listening to Gregory Porter on vinyl, on the TEAC through the Pioneer - music as it is supposed to sound! The Swedish students are cavorting in the pool, the collies are watching with slightly bemused expressions and yours truly is pouring wine, and about to start the braai fire. ‪#‎lifeisgood‬ ‪#‎summersaturday‬ ‪#‎vinyl‬

Just back from our company year-end event, at the Roundhouse in Camps Bay, and once again in awe of this beautiful city we live in! ‪#‎capetown‬‪#‎summer‬ ‪#‎goodtimes‬

What a great Wednesday! Team meeting, couple counselling, coaching, a late lunch with a friend at Hudson's in Claremont (Pale Ale and Hudson's classic Burger, of course) and then bringing home the dogs to sit them for 5 days while their mother attends a humans rights conference in Istanbul. Spent the late afternoon fixing a friend's turntable - successfully - and now listening to The Band - The Last Waltz - what great music! ‪#‎lifeisgood‬ ‪#‎musicisgreat‬‪#‎friendsarethebest‬

Jessie - Mistress of Disdain

Pups - No pretence, just the raw deal...

After spending most of the day in bed (a bad cold), but working non-stop as well, I felt I needed some fresh air and popped down to the beach to watch the sunset. As almost always, Cape Town and Mother Nature did not disappoint!‪#‎capetown‬ ‪#‎sunset‬ ‪#‎iphoneography‬

And imagine my surprise, and delight, when I bumped into my friend Thasneen at the Pakalolo Beach Bar, where she was having a drink with her father-in-law, visiting from Germany!

Finally, on my turntable: Jazz at the Pawnshop. Seminal Jazz work from Sweden, from the seventies. And it sounds just as good I imagined it would, on my Garrard 401! ‪#‎jazz‬ ‪#‎onmyplatter‬ ‪#‎stampen‬ ‪#‎sweden‬

That's all Folks!
